Crossroads Empowering Women Scholarship Application

Crossroads is proud to announce Aleksandra Bugajska as the winner of the 2021-2022 Empowering women scholarship. Aleksandra has overcome oceans of prejudice to pursue her dream of becoming an interior designer. Crossroads is happy to award Mrs. Bugajska $1000 to use to further her education.

Aleksandra Bugajska’s life has not been easy. Born in Poland to a working-class family, Aleksandra dreamed of escaping her conservative society and coming to America. “My parents are unsupportive of my life in the United States and expect me to come home and marry a man that will support my lifestyle. After graduating high school, I realized that there was little to no opportunity in Poland.”

In a move that required nothing less than the utmost courage, Aleksandra left her family and friends behind and came to America without even knowing English.

After multiple years of working and learning English Aleksandra turned her focus to her education. Through her work, she fostered a deep passion for interior design. She is chasing her dream at City College of San Francisco and Crossroads is proud to extend The $1000 Empowering Women Scholarship to Aleksandra Bugajska. We wish you the warmest of welcomes to America. May your time here enrich your life, and may you continue to be a shining beacon of perseverance and determination.
